East Charlotte’s driver license office at 6407 Idlewild Road closed this week and will reopen in its new location at 8 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2.
The move to 6635 Executive Circle, Suite 130, offers more customer-friendly, updated office space and public restrooms, according to a release from the N.C. Department of Transportation.
Driver license offices administer sign tests, written tests and road tests used to qualify applicants for a North Carolina driver license. The phone numbers will remain the same, 704-531-5563 and 704-531-5529. Office hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
During the closure, driver license services will be available at the following area offices: 3122 U.S. 74 West, in Monroe; 8446 N. Tryon St., 201H W. Arrowood Road and 6016 Brookshire Blvd., all in Charlotte.
