Honor March 30 as ‘Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day’

A resolution sponsored by U.S. Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., was passed in the U.S. Senate making March 30 Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day.

As a Vietnam veteran, I lived the pain and abuse from fellow Americans who demonstrated their hate of the Vietnam War by blaming the soldiers. I also know the humiliation of being ignored by the country I served because it was not a “good war.”

I have prayed for the day when America would realize that those soldiers sacrificed as much, if not more, than all of their fellow soldiers past, present and future.

I am pleading with political representatives of city, county and state governments to sponsor recognition events to honor the fallen and the surviving soldiers of America’s forgotten war.
