MATTHEWS – Will Jones begins work March 29 as president and CEO of Thompson, a provider of clinical and prevention services for vulnerable children and families across Mecklenburg County.
He has more than 23 years of human services experience, including 15 of those in executive-level leadership. Most recently, the Waxhaw resident has been a senior child well-being industry consultant at SAS in Charlotte, where he led the work in building a national child well-being practice for the 14,000-employee firm.
“Will has a proven ability to be the face and voice of an organization to the community and with foundations and government organizations,” Board of Trustees Chair Andrea Chomakos said. “He’s performance-focused and believes in measuring results. Perhaps best of all, he has a contagious energy and drive that inspires confidence in the board and excitement in our staff.”
Jones has led child welfare, juvenile justice and behavioral health services in residential- and community-based programming in multiple states. Thompson has been on his radar for several years.
“I admire the impact Thompson has had in the community and am impressed by the organization’s long history of service,” he said. “I’m grateful to the board for the trust they’ve placed in me and am ready to get to work on behalf of some of the area’s most vulnerable citizens. It is a privilege to serve this community.”
