MATTHEWS – Matthews police officers responded to Butler High School At 7:13 a.m. Oct. 10 regarding a lockdown due to an altercation among several students.
The lockdown was a precautionary safety measure. The school notified the assigned on-campus Matthews Police Department school resource officer, who immediately responded to the area of the disturbance.
One student was taken into custody and charged with assault. The lockdown was lifted and classes resumed.
