Beth Harvey
MINT HILL – Beth Harvey will talk about why she loves to paint portraits and demonstrate techniques and tricks learned through trial and error at an upcoming Mint Hill Arts program.
Harvey is a self-taught artist with a passion for painting portraits, especially of children. She has been painting with oils for more than 40 years. Though Harvey majored in English, she took a painting class that revolutionized her painting.
She’ll explain how to choose the best palette for skin colors, especially the shadows on skin; as well as how to begin a painting by laying out all of the major areas of light and dark.
The public is invited to the free program, “The Art and Joy of Portrait Painting,” at 7 p.m. March 26 at the Mint Hill Arts Gallery, 11025 Lawyers Road.
