Fastsigns observes first anniversary
CHARLOTTE – Fastsigns of Charlotte – Independence Blvd hosted a one-year anniversary open house on Sept. 19 at 4845-B E Independence Blvd.
The event included food catered by MEC catering.
In addition to vendors, the event hosted local business owners, staff, friends and family members. The team shared its new technology and equipment, taking time to discuss the center’s capabilities for customers’ projects.
“At Fastsigns, we believe in helping businesses tell their stories beautifully,” franchisee Yazan Alhakim said. “We do this by partnering with our clients to find practical visual solutions infused with beauty and creative designs through innovative signs, graphics, printing, promotional products and related marketing services.”
Mosack Group moving from Matthews to Mint Hill
CHARLOTTE – Mosack Group plans to build a 115,000-square-foot building in Mint Hill, according to the Mecklenburg County Office of Economic Development.
The $9.7 million expansion will retain 50 existing jobs and bring 21 new jobs to the county over the next five years.
The county will support the investment through a Business Investment Program grant of $134,839 over five years, while the Town of Mint Hill is providing a grant for $59,015 over five years.
The Mosack Group imports and sells residential plumbing products to large scale commercial retailers.
Good Cup celebrates new space
MATTHEWS – Good Cup will have a presence within The Loyalist Market beginning Sept. 30.
Good Cup has built a following for the creative drinks, such as Smore Summer, Gettin’ Figgy With It and Autumn Suntea served during the Matthews Farmers Market.

Atrium Health expanding parental benefits
CHARLOTTE – Atrium Health is expanding parental benefits to include four weeks of paid leave for non-birth parents and $3,500 in financial assistance toward adoption costs.
These new policies will be effective as of January 2020 and available to Atrium Health’s more than 38,000 employees.

Alexa can help apply to McDonald’s jobs
CHICAGO – Alexa can now assist with the first step of a McDonald’s restaurant job application.
The voice-initiated application process is available as part of the recently launched Made at McDonald’s global hiring campaign. Starting a job application is as simple as saying, “Alexa, help me get a job at McDonald’s.”
“We must continue to innovate and think of creative, and in this case, groundbreaking ways to meet potential job-seekers on devices they are already using, like Alexa,” Chief People Officer David Fairhurst said.
FedEx Ground to hire 1,850 seasonal positions
CHARLOTTE – FedEx expects to add more than 55,000 seasonal positions throughout its network, including over 1,850 people in the Charlotte area, to help deliver holiday packages.
Positions are for package handlers, many of which may become full-time job opportunities as demand for our services grows and our networks expand.

Study: Apartment industry contributes $20B locally
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The apartment industry and its residents annually contribute $20.3 billion to Charlotte’s economy, $72.1 billion to North Carolina’s economy and more than $3.4 trillion to the national economy, according to a new study.
In Charlotte, the apartment industry supports 88,132 jobs. Resident spending contributes $17.1 billion to the local economy, while operations add $900 million, new construction chips in $2 billion, and renovation and repair add $360 million.
