MATTHEWS – The Not-So-Spooky Halloween event returns to Stumptown Park with face painting, bounce houses, carriage rides, Curley the Clown, sweet treats and judging for a pumpkin-carving contest.
The free event takes place 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 26 and targets children 10 and younger. Attendees are encouraged to dress up for the occasion, but leave pets at home.
Area businesses will provide a safe, interactive way for children to trick-or-treat in the park. The town will screen the film “The Haunted Mansion” at dusk (7 p.m.).
Those participating in the pumpkin contest should drop off entries from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 25 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Parks & Recreation Event Office (196-B S. Trade St.). The entry with the most votes wins a $50 gift card.
