CHARLOTTE – The Matsiko World Orphan Choir will join St. Stephen United Methodist Church for worship and a special concert March 10.
Matsiko is the Ugandan word for hope. The choir gives orphans from across the globe hope by providing an education and musical instruction as they travel the world sharing their culture through traditional song and dance.
“Our vision is to be the hands, feet and heart of Jesus Christ in the world,” Senior Pastor Ken Curtis said. “We’re doing that on March 10 by opening our doors to the choir and helping them spread their enthusiasm and hope to the Charlotte community.”
Children from Peru, Liberia and India make up the choir. Proceeds generated by the choir tour and merchandise sales go directly to support the International Children’s Network’s worldwide programs.
The choir participates at 9 and 11:15 a.m. in worship with a full concert at 4 p.m. at the church, 6800 Sardis Road.
