Hunt gains absentee ballots in N.C. House race

November 10, 2018 by admin Leave a Comment

CHARLOTTE – Absentee ballots may be the pathway for Rachel Hunt to defeat N.C. Rep. Bill Brawley in the District 103 race.

Unofficial results from Nov. 6 show Brawley ahead by 52 votes, but Hunt’s campaign issued a statement after taking a 64-vote lead in the race. Ballots postmarked by election day will be counted if received by close of business Nov. 9.

Official results won’t be released until after Nov. 16.

“The updated election results released by the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections tonight show why it is so important to wait for all votes to be counted,” according to the statement. “We are confident that as the remaining ballots are counted Rachel’s lead will continue to grow. When every voter in District 103 has had their voice heard, Rachel will be representative-elect.“
