MINT HILL – Several Mint Hill commissioners commended the work of the town’s public works department, as well as the police and fire departments, during the recent ice storm.
A combination of ice, sleet and snow brought down dozens of trees and ut
ility lines across Mint Hill, and as much as 50 percent of the town was without power during and after the storm.
“I have always said we have the best police department, the best fire department anywhere in the state of North Carolina and maybe the United States,” Commissioner Mike Cochrane said. “Those public works guys also worked their behinds off this past week. They were first-responders, as much as anybody and those guys did a great job.”
