MATTHEWS – Taft Development Group, of Greenville, has begun construction on Residences Galleria, a new luxury apartment community situated on 20 acres on Monroe Road at the Charlotte-Matthews city limits line.
The project is slated to begin leasing in late 2019, with apartments available for move-in by winter 2020.
The 250-unit residential buildings feature one-, two- and three-bedroom apartment homes, as well as two- and three-bedroom townhomes. Residences Galleria will include modern amenities as well as high-quality interior finishes, such as granite countertops, plank floors and stand-up glass showers.
Some townhomes will feature garages. Community amenities include a clubhouse with a swimming pool with sundeck, yoga and fitness center, business lounge, pavilion, billiard room and club room with cooking demonstration area.
“We are proud to sponsor a project with so many attractive features and that complements Matthews’ architectural history,” said Thomas Taft, principal.

The article does not mention that the development company cut many more trees than agreed upon. Surprise, surprise. The way, this day and time seems to be cut and pay the fines. Any chance that said oops,so sorry developer might build the fence first so that we won’t have to watch the violations ?

Why do all the apartments in this area need to be “luxury” apartments? Why can’t normal everyday, comfortable, well built, affordable apartments be built. They are needed far more than any more luxury apartments. We are not all Kardashians. Even those that believe they are.

There are affordable apartments on either side of this construction site that I’m quite condident the Kardashians aren’t living in. As a home owner who has this new construction literally in my back yard, I welcome “luxury” if there are going to be any at all. Where there used to be deer and a woodline literally 100 ft from me, I see buldozers, and NOTHING but leveled trees. I could care less that it doesn’t fit your budget needs. May I suggest an Aparment Finder magazine.
