MATTHEWS – Matthews Animal Control removed an aggressive raccoon that tested positive for rabies on Sept. 3 at the 2700 block of Briar Trail Court.
There has been no reported human exposure, police said Sept. 5. Police urged people to immediately contact the county health department (704-614-6512 or 704-589-3242) if they or pets recently came into contact with a raccoon in the Briar Trail Court area.
Animals exposed to rabies may not show symptoms for 21 to 28 days, police said.
