Olympic (6-2) at Ardrey Kell (6-1)
Olympic has played well for new coach Brandon Thompson and opened the conference slate with three straight wins. Quarterback Jared Joseph has been putting up Madden-like stats leading Ardrey Kell’s high-flying offense.
Winner: Ardrey Kell
Butler (4-3) at Independence (4-3)
Butler has won three straight before falling last week to Myers Park. Independence has surprised some people, but their 32-18 domination of Porter Ridge serves as a reminder that they are here to stay. Butler has won four straight and 13 of the last 14 games in this series.
Piedmont (1-5) at Charlotte Catholic (3-3)
Piedmont has struggled of late and are losers of five straight games. It feels strange to see Catholic with three losses on the year, but a 20-0 win over Sun Valley could be a sign of things to come.
Winner: Charlotte Catholic
Charlotte Christian (4-2) at Charlotte Latin (7-0)
Charlotte Christian pulled out a gutsy win last week over Christ School that could have saved their season. Charlotte Latin is in the midst of one of their best seasons to date, but will have to forget the beatings the Knights have given them the past two seasons to remain perfect.
Winner: Charlotte Christian
Hickory Grove Christian (0-6) at Covenant Day (2-6)
Hickory Grove is coached by former Parkwood leader Lynn Coble but has struggled to score with just 22 total points through six games. Covenant Day lost by 30 last week to High Point Christian but should be able to end their two-game slide here.
Winner: Covenant Day
Hickory Ridge (6-1) at Myers Park (7-0)
First-year coach Jupiter Wilson has his Hickory Ridge team playing exceptionally well and riding a four-game win streak that includes three conference wins. Myers Park is continuing to play well on both sides of the ball, but expect to be tested here.
Winner: Myers Park
Providence Day (5-2) at Trinity Christian (4-1)
Providence Day has suddenly dropped two straight after blowing a 10-point lead to Charlotte Latin last week. Trinity Christian is averaging more than 50 points per game this season and will test the Chargers secondary in what feels like a must-win for Providence Day.
Winner: Trinity Christian
East Meck (1-6) at Rocky River (0-6)
East Meck has struggled offensively all season as they average just over eight points per game on the season. Winless Rocky River has been in some games until they fall apart late. Maybe here they can finally get it all right here.
Winner: Rocky River
Harding (3-4) at South Meck (0-8)
Harding hasn’t won a conference game and have dropped three straight, although they lost to 7-1 Ardrey Kell by just one point in their final game before last week’s bye. South Meck hung with Providence last week for much of the game before a fourth-quarter touchdown put it out of reach. They’d love to get a win this week.
