MINT HILL – The Mint Hill region of Munch Madness is a bracket of excellence. Every restaurant to survive the region has gone on to win the championship. Restaurant owners have told us that the restaurant industry in town is very supportive of each other.
Big Guy’s Pizza is the returning 2023 champion, earning the right to the No. 1 seed. Others to advance to the final four of the barkcet include El Valle Mexican Restaurant, Sunrise Restaurant and O’Neils.
The closing of O’Neil’s created an opportunity for a new restaurant to join the Mint Hill bracket. Coincidentally, No. 12 seed Shep’s Bar & Grill sits where O’Neil’s once served. Shep’s opened in October 2023. Panzu Brewery, a Caribbean-themed spot that opened in September 2023, and the Mint Hill location of Greek restaurant Showmars are also fresh to the bracket.
