The Matthews-Mint Hill area is home to dozens and dozens of popular restaurants. Our team of portly and pot-bellied editors has selected 64 of the most popular restaurants and seeded them into a tournament bracket we call: Munch Madness: Road to the Final Fork!
The Matthews-Mint Hill Weekly bracket is split up into four regions: Downtown Matthews, Greater Matthews, Mint Hill and Monroe Road, which includes the area in Charlotte just outside of the Matthews town limits.
Ever since we launched Munch Madness in 2019, a restaurant in Mint Hill has taken the championship.
Dunwellz Custom Kitchen and Pour House won the inaugural challenge in 2019. The Hill Bar & Grill repeated in 2020 and 2021. And while the COVID-19 pandemic did not stop the tournament from unfolding in 2020 or 2021, the Great Laptop Crash of 2022 prevented us from fielding a tourney that year. Big Guy’s Pizza won the 2023 challenge. Who will be crowned champion in 2024? Beats me. Readers will decide!
This campaign will span several weeks. Voting for first-round match-ups starts Thursday, March 14, and ends Monday, March 18. We’ll update the bracket each week, giving foodies a fresh menu of options to choose until we have a winner.
